Gold childs posy ring

Gold childs posy ring

Reference

Delightful 17th century, solid gold, childs posy ring. The exterior is a plain band with a slightly rounded shape. The inside of the ring is inscribed:- Remember the giver . Very unusually, there is a makers mark struck inside the ring:- S with pellet on each side, above GH or perhaps CH with pellet below. This makers mark has not yet been identified. As with all these 17th century rings, the gold is very high grade and is a matt, pale golden colour.

E+ (UK ring size), 2 3/4 (US ring size)

Year

1600 - 1699

Country

United Kingdom

Condition

Extremely good. A couple of very small irregularities at one point on the edge but not enough to bother about. The inscription inside the ring is very crisp and the makers mark is good
