VICTORIAN Cased Novelty Box in the form of a Curling Stone with ivory handle.

£1,890

Amusing VICTORIAN cased novelty box in the form of a curling stone with a silver and ivory handle.
Maker: Fenton Brothers. Sheffield 1884.

The lid opens with a bayonet motion and the inside of the lid is clearly hallmarked with the makers mark, the Lion Passant and the Queens head. The full set of hallmarks are very clearly stamped on the base of the box.
The whole fits snuggly into a leather box lined with velvet, which is missing the closure hook.
This is such a delightful piece that it would make a lovely gift.
