Sold

Unusual and robust GEORGE IV sterling silver wine funnel.

Maker: Charles Price. London 1827.

The gadrooning on the border of the top of the funnel is interspersed by three acanthus leaf designs while the decanter clip has a very decorative shell form. The body of the funnel has three protective applied ridges and a band of reeding around the rim. A contemporary family crest of a bird perched on a wheatsheaf is engraved on the body of the funnel and also on the top.

The full set of hallmarks are stamped just below the reeding while the top part of the funnel is stamped with the makers mark, kings head and the lion passant.

The border of the upper part of this funnel makes it very attractive piece.
