Delightful and beautifully made George III Silver Cream Basket.

This basket stands on a raised foot and the body is pierced with a design of oak leaves and acorns. The foot and rim have twisted beading borders which are echoed in the curved handle above. The silver encloses a dark blue glass bowl. With the acorn design, this item might well have Jacobite connotations. The handle is hinged so that it can lie flat when not in use. The reverse of the leaves in the design has a very dark colour because the silver was deliberately left unpolished.
This is a charming piece in extremely good condition and stands alone so that it can be used on various occasions.
This cream basket would make a wonderful gift.
