Extremely well made George III second course dish with a shaped gadroon border. The rim is engraved with a contemporary ambassadorial coat of arms surmounted by a crown.

The full set of hallmarks are clearly stamped on the reverse of the rim.
Augustin le Sage was of Huguenot descent and was part of a family of silversmiths and goldsmiths renowned for the high quality of their work. His father, John le Sage was Subordinate Goldsmith to the King and the high standard of Augustins work reflects his fathers skill.
This second course dish has many versatile uses today.
