Very pleasing GEORGE II Sterling Silver Cream Pail accompanied by an unmarked fluted rim ladle.
Maker's: Edward Aldridge & John Stamper. London 1757.
The pail has a tapering circular form with banded decoration, an unmarked pierced swing handle and an attractive irregular fluted rim.
The full set of hallmarks and the maker's marks are stamped on the base of the pail and are crisp and clear.
The initials 'F.B' for the owner are scratch-engraved next to the hallmarks.
The unmarked cream ladle has a very attractive lipped fluted rim which echoes the rim of the pail.
Although this item was made as a cream pail, it would be useful today as a container for a number of other items such as condiments and would make a very good gift.
