Good set of four GEORGE I  Dognose sterling silver tablespoons of good weight.Maker: Samuel Hitchcock. London 1722.The spoons are well shaped and are engraved at the end of the stem with decorative italic initials. The hallmarks and maker's mark are stamped at the base of the stem near the bowl. All the marker's marks are clearly visible but the hallmarks are rubbed. The Dognose succeeded the Trefid pattern and was only mostly made between 1700 and 1715. It was the transition between the Trefid and the Hanoverian patterns and in effect the Dognose could be seen as the continuation of the Trefid pattern but without the notches cut in to the end of the stem but still maintaining the rat tail. These spoons can be purchased in pairs.Length: 8 inches (20.32cm)Weight: 8 troy ounces (248.8 grams) all four
