GEORGE I BRITANNIA STANDARD SILVER MARROW SPOON BY GEORGE COX.

GEORGE I BRITANNIA STANDARD SILVER MARROW SPOON BY GEORGE COX.

£1,260

Very well made GEORGE I Britannia Standard marrow spoon.
Maker: GEORGE COX. Date mark rubbed probably between 1698-1703

There are very few of these George I marrow spoons avaivable to day. This an interesting spoon because the bowl was used for the meat and the juice while the handle was useful for scooping out the marrow from the bone. The back of the bowl is joined to the handle with a plain rat-tail.
The hallmarks and the maker's mark are stamped on the reverse of the stem.
