Interesting and early pair of JAMES II silver sucket spoons / forks.
Makers mark of RS above a mullet is stamped on the bowl of the spoons.
London circa 1686.

The stems have ovoid bowls with a plain rat-tail at one end and two-tined forks at the other end. Both stems are initialled TH 6th May 86 on one side and DB on the other.

These sucket spoons/forks have an extremely important provenance which is in the Albert Collection, item 448, page 160, as well as the Constable Collection where the spoons are illustrated and written up in the Silver Spoons of Britain. Vol II, pages 774-775, spoon no. 167.

There are very few sucket spoons/forks of this era available today.
