Pair George III gold pierced buckles. Maker Thomas Taylor I.

Pair George III gold pierced buckles. Maker Thomas Taylor I.

Sold

Beautifully fashioned pair of small pierced George III gold buckles. Made in London in circa 1775 by Thomas Taylor I. The buckles are made in high grade gold, probably 22ct. The design is very classical with stylised flowers, swags, leaves and reeding but extremely delicate. The central shaft, which has two very sharp prongs to keep the buckles in place, is made of steel. They are struck with the makers mark only, which was correct for that period.

These buckles have been very well cared for as there is hardly any sign of wear.
