Delightful Charles II silver filigree counter box.
Circa 1680.

The delicate filigree engraving of flowers on the top of the push up lid is protected by a twisted silver band. The push up lid has a small knob to facilitate removal of the lid.
This box was used to hold gambling counters, today it could be used for storing rings or even pills and would make a charming addition to any dressing table.
