Large and bold pair of silver William IV Irish spade salt spoons with fiddle pattern handles and very well defined shovels. Made in Dublin in 1836 by J. Buckton. The end of the front of the stems are engraved with a decorative N. The full set of hallmarks are stamped on the end of the reverse of the stems and are very clear.
The size of these shovel salt spoons makes them extremely versatile. While they would sit very well on top of a pair of large salts, they would be equally useful for serving cranberry sauce and other jellies or spices.
