Extremely elegant pair of George III, sterling silver cast candlesticks with a sunk center to each base and detachable nozzels.
Made in London in 1764 by Ebenezer Coker.
Both square bases are engraved with a monogram of two slanting capital As conjoined at the top, with a Barons coronet above.
The full set of hallmarks are clearly struck on the rim of each base and a lion passant is struck on each sconce.
These cast, sunk center candlesticks are one of the most sought after styles of the mid-18th century. Their elegance and balance means that they blend well with any table setting. Ebenezer Coker was a specialist candlestick maker and any items made by him were always of a generous weight and excellent craftsmanship.
