GEORGE III Pair Sterling Silver Scottish Lipped Ladles. Edinburgh circa 1810.

£350

Elegant pair of GEORGE III sterling silver Scottish lipped ladles.
Maker: WM, possible William Marshall. Edinburgh circa 1810.

Ladles with lips are usually found on Irish silver but it is a Celtic touch which facilitates pouring.
The hallmarks are clearly struck on the reverse of each stem but the date has been omitted. The makers mark has been slightly overstruck by the Edinburgh mark at the Assay Office.
These ladles are delicate with smaller sized bowls which adds to their elegance.

Length: 6 inches (15.2cm)
Width of bowl: 1.8 inches (4.6cm)
Weight: 1.1 troy ounces (34.2 grams) the pair.
