George III Sterling Silver Shell Shaped Snuff Box by Matthew Linwood

Charming sterling silver George III shell shaped snuff box.
Maker: Matthew Linwood. Birmingham circa 1810.
The soft curved lines of this box make it extremely tactile and help to enhance the very pleasant feel of this item in the hand.
The hallmarks consisting of the lion passant, the Georgian head and the makers mark are clearly stamped on the gilded inside of the box.
Matthew Linwood was one of the leading Birmingham box makers of his time. Although this box was originally used for snuff, it would make an extremely useful pill box today.
