GEORGE IV Sterling Silver Scottish Fish Slice by Mitchell & Sons
GEORGE IV Sterling Silver Scottish Fish Slice by Mitchell & Sons
Top quality and rare, sterling silver Scottish George IV fish slice of very good gauge.
Made in Glasgow in 1826 by Mitchell and Son.
The centre of the blade is pierced with decorative fronds around a fish. The fiddle and thread pattern handle is engraved with a capital W or M and is joined to the blade by a fish with a curved tail. The full set of hallmarks is struck on the reverse of the handle and although the makers mark is slightly rubbed, it is legible.
This slice is rare because the handle is joined to the blade by a very decorative fish. It would make an ideal gift.
Length: 11.1 inches (28.2 cm) long x 2.9 inches (7.4 cm) at widest point of blade
