Historically interesting GEORGE III Warwick Castle engraved silver coachmans arm decoration.
Circa 1800.
The rampant bear supported by the ragged staff is the crest of the Earls of Warwick as is also the crown above. They were sewn on to the arm of the coachmans uniform between the elbow and the shoulder. Both bear and crown are mounted on a rectangular red velvet pad.
At that period the Earl was George Greville, 2nd Earl of Warwick (1746 - 1816).
A colonel in the Warwickshire Fencibles in 1795, he was appointed Lord Lieutenant of Warwickshire in that year.
