Miniature reproduction in the form of a badge of the impressive and unique GREAT PAUL BELL. Registered on the 5th June 1882 (see registration stamp on the reverse of the badge). Cast at Taylors of Loughborough in 1881.
Great Paul is Britains heaviest swinging Bell, It is located in the South West Tower of St Pauls Cathedral in London. It was cast by Taylors bell foundry and weighs 16 ton-14 Cwt. The bell rings at 1pm every day.
Around the bell runs the inscription vae mihi si non evangelisavero - Woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel with initials in italics EMILY.
John Taylor & Co, commonly known as Taylors Bell Foundry or Taylors of Loughborough, was the worlds largest working bell foundry. The business originated in the 14th century and became Taylors after the Taylor family took over in 1784.
