Robert Garrard I entered his first mark as plateworker in partnership with John Wakelin. He registered his second mark alone in 1802. According to Grimwade, during the life of his son Robert Garrard II the firm was appointed Goldsmiths and Jewellers to the King in 1830 and the family firm still holds this Royal appointment today.
