Very attractive George II sterling silver wirework cake basket with applied wheat sheaves and poppies with a twisted handle. The very decoratively engraved coat of arms is engraved on the inside of the basket base.
Maker: Arthur Annesly. London 1757.
Arms: Lane impaling Booth. Henry Lane married Dorothy Booth in Westminster on 28th September 1717.
Arthur Annesly worked in Dublin, London and Rotterdam and made a number of wirework baskets with applied floral and leaf decoration.
The full set of hallmarks are very crisply struck on the outside of the basket base.
