- GEORGE III Sterling Silver Small Dish by James Warren. Dublin circa 1760
GEORGE III Sterling Silver Small Dish by James Warren. Dublin circa 1760
GEORGE III Sterling Silver Small Dish by James Warren. Dublin circa 1760
Attractive sterling silver small dish circa 1760, either very early George III or late George II.
Maker: James Warren.
The dish has a crenelated border with raised ridges beneath. A contemporary crest of a bunch of grapes with two shamrocks behind is engraved in the centre.
The reverse is stamped with the makers mark which has been partially over-stamped by the Dublin harp with the Hibernia mark on the other side.
This a very pretty dish and it is quite possible that it was used as a counter dish.
Diameter: 5 inches (12.7cm)
Weight: 2.74 troy ounces (85.15 grams)
1760
Sterling silver
Dublin
Condition. Very good with a very pleasing patina. There is a small dig visible on the upper left-hand side of the crest caused by the pressure of the stamping of an assay mark.
