18th Century Set of 6 Hunting Buttons by Richard Gosling.
8507
Enchanting set of six 18th century sterling silver hunting buttons. Each of these 6 buttons is engraved by the same hand with a different scene. Three of the buttons illustrate a fox running at speed, hounds in full pursuit and the kill.... The other three buttons illustrate a horse in harness, a dog sniffing scents and a man loading a shotgun with his dog beside him.
Maker: Richard Gosling. Circa 1740.
These 18th century buttons are highly collectable and would look very good on a formal or velvet jacket of today.
The buttons are each clearly stamped on the reverse with makers mark only and the lion passant.
Diameter: 1.25 inches (3.2cm)
Weight: 2.0 troy ounces (62.2 grams) in total

Very good indeed with a pleasing patina. The scratch at the bottom of the button with a horse is not very visible in real life and can be improved if the purchaser wishes.
